……..Marketers Accuse Group of Picking Bones with Would be Helpers
The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has denied fixing its petrol price.
However, there are reports that had claimed that oil marketers projected that petrol from the refinery would be sold at N600 per litre.
On another hand the Marketers are, also, accusing the Group, of creating problems with actors in the oil and gas sector that would have made his 650,000 barrels per day refinery succeed.
Anthony Chiejina, group chief branding and communications officer of Dangote Group, in a reply to the accussations, said the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) is not its business partner yet.
“We have never discussed price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) with them, and they have no mandate or authority to speak for us, either for good or with hidden transcript,” he said.
He urged the public to desist from such speculative announcements, saying the company has official channels through which it disseminates information to its stakeholders.
The development comes amid expectations of petrol supply from the Dangote refinery this month.
Recall that Dangote refinery had earlier on July 15, said it would commence petrol supply in August.
Be that as it may, the National President of the Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Owners Association of Nigeria, Billy Gillis-Harry disclosed this in an interview with DAILY POST on Monday.
He spoke on the heels of the feud between Dangote Refinery and the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, NUPRC, over supply of 26 million barrels of crude.
Reacting to the development, Gillis-Harry explained that it would be impossible for the Lagos-based refinery to commence fuel refining without receiving sufficient crude supply.
According to him, Dangote Refinery alone can’t receive 26 million barrels of crude allocation when there are other domestic refineries in Nigeria.
He said all stakeholders should have a round-table meeting to solve the crisis in the country’s oil and gas industry.
“He has openly created arguments between him and those who should help him solve the crude supply challenges.
“If they have not been able to resolve the crude oil crisis, I don’t see how he can commence petrol refining.
“The man is just a deceit. There is no way the 26 million barrels can be for Dangote Refinery when it has not been fully licensed.
“All the actors have to sit down and analyze solutions,” he said.
